IFCO provides training and development solutions to government and non-government Foster Care providers around the world.
Our mission is to promote family based Foster Care solutions for children and young people, based on the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child. As our mission becomes known we are asked to share our expertise by countries seeking to develop Foster Care to replace institutions.
We are committed to the training and development of a diverse pool of Foster Care experts to reflect the abilities and competencies required. This would include experienced foster carers and young people who have been in care.
IFCO’s Training and Development Bureau
In pursuit of IFCO’s mission the Training and Development Bureau has been developed for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of information among persons, organizations and between nations of the world with the view to promoting the development of family care for all children.
IFCO believes that all nations have a need for competent staff and resource families to assist in the protection of their most vulnerable children. For this to be accomplished these services need to be locally based, culturally sensitive and relevant, and the importance of training and skill development cannot be overstated.
IFCO’s Training and Development Bureau has been developed accordingly to offer well informed assistance to those wishing to provide Foster Care.
