Since it was founded in 1981 IFCO has been an international membership-driven organisation, with an emphasis on supporting those across the globe who are directly involved in foster and kinship care for children. IFCO also connects people with care-experience from around the world. Our members are united in the vision that, if they so wish, all children in alternative care across the world should live in family-based care because this form of care offers children the best opportunity to grow and prosper.

Membership Categories

IFCO members are divided into three categories:

  • Individual
  • Youth
  • Organisational Members

Members aged between 14 and 29 years qualify as a youth member. All others are classified as individual members.

Membership fees for individuals and youths are reduced if you live in a developing country with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of less than $13,000 USD. If you’re unsure about your country details see the World Bank Data here

Organisations may also join IFCO. Membership fees are pro-rata based on the income of your organisation. IFCO’s constitution grants organisations three votes at IFCO AGMs.

IFCO charges a small one off joining fee at the time that you take out your first membership (as per the details in the chart below). IFCO membership is valid for 12 months from the time you join. You will automatically receive an email renewal reminder before your membership expires.
When you use IFCO’s membership application form you will be prompted to pay your membership fees online by using your PayPal account or by using your credit/debit bank card on the Paypal site.

It doesn’t matter what currency your payment card uses, your membership payment will always reach IFCO in GBP (British Pounds).

To check the cost of IFCO membership in your own currency you can check a currency converter such as XE. If you have questions about membership fee payments please email the secretariat at ifco@ifco.info using ‘membership payment query’ in the subject heading.
