Conference information

IFCO brings together people involved in Foster Care at our regular international and regional conferences. Through these networking events, professionals have the opportunity to exchange information and good practice in family based Foster Care.

Networking opportunities with IFCO

Our conferences provide a multi-cultural arena where children, young people, foster carers, parents whose children are in Foster Care, social workers, academics, researchers, volunteers, media, policy makers and others can meet, share experience and support each other.

All conference attendees are united behind the common aim of helping to make it the right of every child to live in a family.

Preliminary announcement > 2012 IFCO European Conference - Sofia, Bulgaria 21-24 October 2012

The IFCO 2012 SOFIA website will be here soon - video presentation and leaflets are to be distributed at the conference in Canada.

The next conference is to be organised by IFCO's Bulgarian partners, 'For Our Children'.

The 'For Our Children' foundation is a Bulgarian NGO which, in partnership with children, families, communities and local and national authorities, protects the rights of the child in Bulgaria.  They are working to create and improve alternatives for children living in social institutions, to develop foster care in Bulgaria and to increase children’s wellbeing in the first years of their life. The vision is a happy childhood and future for every child in Bulgaria!

IFCO's 2012 conference in Sofia will be immediately followed by Eurochild's Annual Conference - one flight, two conferences! Keep checking back to this website to find out more.

2011 IFCO conference

IFCO is holding its 30th Anniversary world conference in Victoria, Canada from 10-15 July 2011.

In hosting this event, we are committed to delivering a dynamic conference that will provide opportunity for all delegates to take part in meaningful educational experiences, numerous networking opportunities, and a variety of entertaining social activities.

Our theme will be ‘Fostering Hope - Together We Can Make a Difference’. This is in recognition of the crucial role we all play in the life of a child, whether we are parents, foster parents, social workers, clinicians, teachers, child care professionals, extended family or others.

Please note that registration to attend the 2011 IFCO conference is now closed. For more information, visit our dedicated event website at www.ifco2011.com.
